Bird Birthday Party Themes

My young parrot, Fresca, was just learning to say a few words just before her first birthday. She really seemed to enjoy trying to repeat things I'd say and she stayed quiet when I kept the talk radio station on all day. So, for her birthday I decided to do something fun that we both could enjoy.

The only thing Fresca likes more than talking is guacamole, salsa and chips. I decided to buy a Spanish language program so we could learn the language together and have a Mexican feast.

I decorated the living room and Fresca's cage with red, green and gold crepe paper so it looked more festive. I put Fresca on my shoulder and sat down at the compter. I took Spanish in High school, but that was a long time ago. I think Fresca had nearly as much trouble as I did learning the vocabulary.

During a break in the lessons, I brought out the guacamole, salsa and chips. I put some of each into a separate bowl for Fresca and put a big bowl of water next to it, since the food was fairly salty. That evening, I asked her if she thought the food was good and she said, "Bueno." That means, "Good." I was amazed, but she is very intelligent.

I tried to get her to wear the tiny sombrero I got her for her birthday, but Fresca didn't like it. I did to get one photo of her with it on and lots of her knocking it off by shaking her head or scratching at it with her feet. I offered her some of my champagne but she didn't like it so I drank it instead. We had a wonderful time.
