One evening in a quiet house by the beach in Milford, Connecticut, an idea was born for a Wedding Gift That Will Last A Lifetime. We were having dinner with our friends Valerie & George from Georgia. As we caught up on children and work, George mentioned that twenty-five years ago he and Valerie were married in a church in Pennsylvania where a wedding certificate was signed by all in attendance, as legal witnesses to the marriage. Valerie & George had the certificate framed and placed it on their living room wall. Over the years many people had commented on the certificate - "I don’t even know where to find my wedding guest book and you have all these memories on the wall", or "I wish I had one of those from our wedding."
We decided to join forces with Valerie & George and formed the Plymouth Rock Certificate Co. The wedding certificate, while keeping the old fashioned qualities, has been updated to be used by all brides and grooms, in any type of ceremony.
The certificate, calligraphy style on parchment paper, is personalized for each wedding as to bride, groom, family, place of the wedding and wedding officiator. The certificates are 17 inches wide and custom sized in length, depending on the number of guests expected to attend. Lined spaces at the bottom of the document allow each guest to sign as witness to the wedding. These signatures are what make the certificate a unique wedding momento and an heirloom for future generations. At a glance, one remembers the family and friends who were on hand to share the "special day."
